Where do you reside?
I currently live in Boston, Massachusetts.
What got you involved in the tax profession?
I first became interested in accounting in high school, and eventually, I liked the problem-solving and regulatory aspects of tax, which made me explore career paths in it.
What is your day job?
I work as a director at Digital Accountants LLC in which we specialize in providing digital accounting services for automating manual accounting tasks, implementing cloud accounting software for more accurate and efficient accounting, preparing insightful data visualization reports, and delivering tailored digital solutions to our clients so that they can focus on their core business priorities.
Where do you see the tax profession going in the future?
I believe artificial intelligence (AI) will reshape the tax profession immensely, such that AI tools can be leveraged for more routine tax work while enrolled agents and other tax professionals can focus more on tax representation and strategic advisory roles. This will help in managing compliance more efficiently and deriving real-time analytical insights to deliver enhanced value to clients.
What inspires you?
My parents and other family members inspire me the most to help me push my limits and become the best version of myself.
What are you most proud of personally or professionally?
I am proud that I became an enrolled agent within 4 months. Before becoming an enrolled agent, I had not taken any tax courses or had any work experience in tax, but I did not let this deter me and had faith in my preparation for my exams. I thank the National Association of Enrolled Agents (NAEA) Education Foundation for providing me with a scholarship, which motivated me immensely in pursuing this journey.
What is your favorite quote or motto?
One of my favorite quotes is by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.: “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” I believe we should live our lives with utmost integrity and work together to prevent injustice in our society.
What do you do for fun?
I read fiction books (mystery, historical, adventurous), watch movies (superhero and horror) and television shows (superhero and fantasy), and dance (Bollywood, South Indian, and hip-hop).
Superpower you wish you had and why?
There are many cool superpowers to choose from, but I’d say reading minds would be one of the most fun and useful powers in real life!
What is one goal you hope to accomplish in your lifetime?
To build a rare books collection library (the inspiration comes from my recent visit to the Folger Shakespeare Library in Washington, DC).
Advice to your 20-year-old self?
I recently turned 21, so the best advice I could give to my slightly younger self is to keep working on my goals every day and stay consistent, regardless of progress speed or adverse circumstances along the way. To quote (again) Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.: “If you can’t fly then run, if you can’t run then walk, if you can’t walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward.” Moving forward with the correct attitude and mindset is the best advice I can give my 20-year-old self.
Favorite travel destination?
I love visiting New York City for its marvelous architecture and the wide variety of cuisines (shoutout to Indian cuisine restaurants Bungalow and Junoon in NYC).
If you could have dinner with one historical figure, who would it be and why?
President Thomas Jefferson – neither of us can live without books!
What’s a skill you’d like to learn?
Cooking! I like the creativity and love that goes into creating artistic and flavorful dishes.
Favorite thing about your job?
I like helping people understand tax matters and situations so that they are more well-informed about their unique circumstances and can make better decisions.
If you could be any character in fiction, who would you be?
Spider-Man! With great power comes great responsibility!
