President's Message
I recently decided it was time to update my headshot. After all, the other one was more than five years old. As I looked at my new picture, I noticed how much my face had changed. Where did that face of five years ago disappear to? Comparing my old and new headshots was an instant reminder of how things are always changing.
As the years have ticked by, much has also changed in our professional lives. Tax code changes seem to come down the pike as frequently as the dirty laundry piles up at home. We electronically file tax returns. Paper filing a Form 1040 requires an explanation. We share information with our clients in the cloud. Anyone remember thinking “What is the cloud?” and finding the answer via the very obnoxious sound of a dial-up internet connection?
Sometimes change is difficult to accept. Other times, like high-speed internet, we welcome change. Can you imagine going back to dial-up internet?
Looking to the future is a key component of success. Just like headshots and internet speeds, change is a consistent part of our lives. And just like our personal and professional lives, our association will have to continually adapt to the constantly changing world we find ourselves in.
The camera does not lie. Things change. And change is something our association must do to continue to evolve and grow. Your elected leaders and the National Association of Enrolled Agents (NAEA) team remain committed to NAEA’s success as we lead NAEA into the future.
