The EA Journal Is an Example of Excellence

Spring 2025, EVP Message, practice management

Megan KillianI want to take this time to direct you back to page 3 and review the list of names in the masthead and join me in giving a huge shout out to the incredibly talented team that creates the EA Journal. It’s a Herculean task, and without the efforts of our managing editor, editor-in-chief, creative designer, and the editorial board, the journal would not be the award-winning, professionally respected, and member loved publication that it is today.

The EA Journal consistently rates as one of the top National Association of Enrolled Agents (NAEA) member benefits. Members love its compelling features, informative columns, and low-cost CE options. In this digital world we operate in, it’s also one of the few things that you receive in the mail and can hold in your hands as a reminder of your membership in the NAEA community.

Work on each EA Journal begins many months before it hits your mailbox. The editorial calendar is created, authors and articles are recruited, and then everything is peer reviewed. Design concepts are then developed, advertisements are assembled, and the layout begins. The last thing that gets inserted during the final review is usually this column because I am always late. But sometimes I find reviewing the rest of the journal provides the inspiration I need. In this case, it was a reminder of how hard the EA Journal team is working in the background to provide you with the best publication possible.

Thank you, also, to all the EA Journal authors. These are professionals who share their time and expertise with the NAEA community. Many of the journal authors are long-time, nationally recognized experts, some are emerging experts, others are first time authors, and many are thought leaders in the tax administration system. Authors love that they can share their expertise, raise their professional profile, and help guide and teach others in the profession.

As we look ahead towards 2025, NAEA is excited to continue to bring you the reliable and interesting content you rely on in the EA Journal and add some more exciting features to enhance your journal reading experience. Stay tuned…
