Investing in the Future: The Impact of the NAEA Education Foundation

Megan Killian

Winter 2025, EVP Message, practice management, Education Foundation

Megan KillianEvery day, enrolled agents (EAs) help taxpayers navigate complex financial challenges. But behind every successful tax professional is a story shaped by opportunity, mentorship, and community. The National Association of Enrolled Agents (NAEA) Education Foundation exists to make those stories possible, empowering the next generation of enrolled agents through scholarships, professional development, and engagement opportunities.

The foundation’s mission is simple but powerful: to support education and advancement within the enrolled agent profession. For more than a decade, the NAEA Education Foundation has been awarding scholarships to professionals seeking to become enrolled agents or advance their tax education. In 2025, the foundation also added scholarships for college and university students who are pursuing degrees in a tax-related field. These scholarships not only reduce financial barriers but also send the message that the EA community invests in its future leaders.

The foundation’s impact is only possible through generous donations from NAEA members, corporate partners, and friends of the profession. Contributions help fund scholarships, educational programs, and outreach initiatives that raise awareness about the EA credential. Whether you give a one-time gift, make a recurring donation, or honor a colleague with a tribute gift, every contribution directly supports the future of tax excellence.

Beyond financial support, the NAEA Education Foundation offers meaningful volunteer opportunities. Members can serve as scholarship reviewers, mentors, or ambassadors, helping to promote awareness of the foundation’s mission. Volunteering connects you to the heart of NAEA’s work while supporting others on their professional journey.

Just in the last five years, the NAEA Education Foundation has awarded scholarships to more than 1,000 aspiring enrolled agents and helped them take the next step toward their goals. These investments ripple outward by strengthening the profession, expanding access to expert tax help, and ensuring taxpayers across the country have trusted advocates on their side.

The foundation’s success depends on NAEA members who understand the importance of giving back and building for the future. Together, we can continue to grow the EA profession, one scholarship, one volunteer, and one success story at a time.
